Iona first officers test our VR-Simulator by Olav-Rasmus Vorren

Today the Norwegian Coastal Administration invited first officers Ben Clorley and Alasdair Horswill from the cruise ship Iona to test their own vessel in our VR Ship & Bridge simulator.

Pilots Per Herman Syre and Hallvard Høydalsvik facilitated the session, and feedback from the Iona crew is that “The VR simulator system is highly realistic - it is just like being aboard the actual vessel”. This coming from the crew that has the background to compare reality with simulation in this case - is a very positive verification.

Welcome on board Marint Kompetansesenter! by Olav-Rasmus Vorren

Ole Andreas Holm, Managing Director Marint Kompetansesenter

Marint Kompetansesenter is now using our VR Ship & Bridge simulator system with great success in training and students. The system enables them to take control of their training, and to take it on the road to cover a large geographic area, due to the systems compact and portable design.

We greatly appreciate working with such a passionate organization and people, and to participate in revolutionizing and increase quality and competence. This is what motivates and drives us!

Australian Maritime & Fisheries Academy by Olav-Rasmus Vorren

The Australian Maritime & Fisheries Academy has replaced their conventional simulators with Morild Ship & Bridge VR simulator system in their training centers in Port Adelaide and Port Lincoln. The transition has been very successful and they are now up and running.

With our VR simulator system they are able to train together and utilize instructors remotely between the two locations.

It is exciting to be part of the paradigm shift in maritime training - what used to be a vision for the future is finally reality.

Healthy Seas VR Experience by Olav-Rasmus Vorren

Together with Awesome Technologies we have worked with the Healthy Seas Foundation to create a state of the art VR experience to bring awareness and enthusiasm to their cause.

The VR experience takes you on a typical diving mission, where the goal is to cleanup ghost nets from the ocean - which are responsible for the needless death of marine animals. These nets are recycled and used to create valuable products.

The photos above are from an event in Greece last week, where children got to try the VR experience for the first time.

The VR experience will be featured in events and at venues around the world, translated into multiple languages.

Update Ship & Bridge VR simulator by Olav-Rasmus Vorren

We just wanted to post a short video showing the latest version of our ship & bridge VR simulator. First part of the video shows the scenarion builder, and the second part shows operational bridge handling in Virtual Reality (VR).

The conning application has now been redesigned in accordance with the Open Bridge standard. We are also working to redesign our ECDIS and ARPA Radar to this standard. Our ECDIS now features Primar ENC charts, with world wide coverage.

In the video above, you can also see a brand new geo-specific location available in our simulator, Auckland - New Zealand.

21+ years of experience in maritime visualization by Olav-Rasmus Vorren

Today our company’s focus is VR training simulators, but we are very proud of our heritage from 3D visualization for the maritime industry. This background has given us experience which enables us to make simulators with the highest visual fidelity achievable with todays technology. We have also gained comprehensive insight and understanding of every aspect of the industry.

Everything started in 2000, with the transition from 2D to 3D. Before this time, airbrush illustrations and physically slicing expensive equipment to reveil the interior mechanisms - was the norm. With 3D visualization and animation, companies could demonstrate the benefits and functionality of their products and solutions. Today our customers demonstrate this in our simulators.

The slideshow above show a few samples of what we have delivered over the years.
